यहाँ गजल में, दिल
को दो संदर्भ में प्रयोग किया गया है. एक जो सीने में धड़कता है, दूसरा जो सामने है,
मतलब प्रिय (sweetheart). यहाँ जब कोई बात
किसी को कही जा रही हो तब उसका तात्पर्य प्रिय (sweetheart) से है. संक्षेप में
ऎ दिल =
Sweetheart, दिल = heart.
मैं रहा बेज़ार सा, ऎ दिल।
तू क्या जाने, क्या रहा हाल-ए-दिल।
तवज्जु जो मिला तुमसे, मैं तो हार गया दिल।
तुम नहीं यहाँ तो तुमको ढूंढ़ता है दिल।
खामोश ना रहो कुछ तो कहो, ऎ दिल।
बेचैन है तरसता है सुने को मेरा दिल।
एहसास हो तुम्हें ये चाहता है दिल।
कितना मुस्किल है जीना बिना तेरे दिल।

तेरी महक से ही ज़िंदा हूँ, ऎ दिल।
तसव्वुर करता है मेरा दिल।

बेचैन = Restless
तसव्वुर = Hallucinate
